Peter Pan Donuts - Greenpoint

Probably my favorite breakfast place right now: it's a small diner and bakery that specializes in bagels, donuts and breakfast sandwiches. A coffee, a donut and a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel will run you $6--and it's a lot of food. I'm not a fan of sweets and pastries much, but the red velvet donut pictured above is my all time favorite; crispy glazed outer layer, fluffy and crumbly cake inside.

The breakfast sandwiches are the best and cheapest I've ever had. That alone is reason enough to go here--note that I left out the superlative 'healthiest,' though. Loaded up on crispy bacon, cheese melted precisely, soft uniform eggs all served on the doughy pastry of your choosing. Bagels are fresh, chewy and awesome, but their bialys are great too and once I even saw a gentleman eating a bacon, egg and cheese on a sticky bun. Insanity. I'll have to try it out and get some pictures up--I was unable to snap a photo of the sandwich because I am an impatient glutton.

Also noteworthy, in the summer they have ice cream sandwiches on freshly made donuts: guilty euphoria.
